What you will submit
A single shareable link to a document (or gallery) containing your event brief, full shot list, 8 edited sample photos, and your tiered pricing + delivery plan.
What to do, step by step
- Choose a real or imagined Nigerian event to plan for (e.g. a Lagos traditional wedding, an Abuja corporate launch, or a Saturday owambe) and write a short brief: the type of event, the venue (indoor/outdoor), and the client's must-have shots.
- Build a complete shot list organised by the chapters of that event (prep, ceremony, portraits, reception, dancing/spraying), clearly starring the non-negotiable shots and including details, candids and key family groupings.
- Capture 8 practice/sample photos that demonstrate your range — include at least one wide scene-setting shot, one detail shot, one portrait with a blurred background (wide aperture), one candid/emotional moment, and one tricky-light shot (dark indoor or harsh sun). Practice subjects, friends or a real small event are all fine.
- Edit your 8 photos for a consistent, flattering look (correct exposure, fix any colour cast, protect skin tones) and place them in a single online gallery (Google Drive/Photos, Pixieset or similar) that anyone with the link can view.
- Write a pricing + delivery plan: at least two tiered packages with naira prices and what each includes, your deposit policy and payment methods, your delivery timeline, and the gallery/delivery method you'll use.
- Put the shot list, the link to your 8-photo gallery, and the pricing + delivery plan into one shareable document (Google Doc, Notion or PDF) and submit the public, viewable link.

| Editing and delivery: consistent flattering look, skin tones handled well, presented in a clean viewable online gallery | 20% |
| Pricing + delivery plan: realistic tiered naira packages, clear deposit/payment terms and delivery timeline | 15% |
| Nigerian context and practicality: real venues, naira figures, local platforms and realistic event realities throughout | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish Event Photography Basics before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Event Photography Basics is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
