About this course

Massage pays well in Nigeria and demand is growing in spas, hotels, gyms, offices and homes, but almost nobody is taught the three things that decide whether a therapist lasts: when NOT to put hands on someone, how to keep the work unmistakably professional and safe for both people in the room, and how to run it as a business with numbers instead of guesswork. This course teaches all three alongside the craft. You will learn the anatomy you actually touch, the core strokes and the body mechanics that protect your own wrists and back, full sequences for back, neck and shoulders, legs and feet, arms and hands, and how to adapt for pregnancy, older clients and athletes. You will learn contraindications and the red flags that send a client to a doctor today, consent and draping, how to answer a request for 'extras' and end a booking safely, and how to protect yourself on home visits. You will learn what the law actually says: massage is not physiotherapy, chiropractic or osteopathy, all of which are regulated professions, and what registering, advertising and keeping client records properly involves. And you will build the money model: what mobile work, a rented chair and your own room each cost and can earn, where the money leaks, and how to price from your own numbers. Every naira figure is an example to check, never a promise. Free, like every Skillnaija course.

Ngozi Okafor's first paying client was her neighbour's mother. She carried a borrowed table up three flights of stairs in Surulere, set it up between a bed and a wardrobe, and worked for an hour on a back that had been carrying a shop for thirty years. The woman paid her, asked her to come again on Saturday, and told two friends. Ngozi went home and did the sum for the first time: two of those a day, four days a week, and she would out-earn the salon job she had left. Then she did the second sum, the one nobody had taught her: transport, laundry, oil, and the Saturdays a client cancels at ten in the morning.
