What you will submit

A single document (Google Doc, PDF or shared link) containing all six parts: product definition, sourcing + seasonality plan, process + hygiene + quality, equipment + startup cost list with total, packaging/branding + NAFDAC note, and a cost/price-per-unit build-up showing true cost, selling price and margin.

What to do, step by step

  1. Choose ONE product line (e.g. garri, groundnut oil, tomato paste, palm oil, smoked fish, fruit juice or grain flour) and write a tight, specific product definition — what exactly you make, in what pack sizes, for which buyers.
  2. Write your sourcing plan: where you will buy the raw material (named market/farm/cooperative near you), how you will inspect and reject bad material, and a short buying-and-storage note on how you will handle seasonality (glut vs lean).
  3. Describe your processing steps in order, plus your hygiene rules (hands, water, workspace, raw/finished separation) and how you will keep quality consistent batch to batch.
  4. List your starting equipment (manual or small machines) and build an honest startup cost list in naira — tools/machine, first raw material, packaging, transport and a buffer — with a total.
  5. Describe your packaging and branding (pack material, sizes, brand name, what your label will show) and write a short NAFDAC note: why it matters for your product and the broad steps to register.
  6. Build a cost-and-price-per-unit table: list every cost per unit (raw material, energy/fuel, packaging, labour, transport, levies, spoilage buffer), total it to your true cost per unit, then set your selling price and show your margin — and name the channels where you will sell.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
Clear, specific product choice and definition with named raw-material source and a seasonality/storage plan20%
Sound processing steps with concrete hygiene and consistency practices20%
Realistic equipment list and honest naira startup cost build-up with a total20%
Sensible packaging/branding plan and an accurate NAFDAC note15%
Correct cost/price-per-unit build-up showing true cost, price, margin and named sales channels25%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish Agro-processing Business before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Agro-processing Business is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
