What you will submit

One shared link (Google Drive folder or Google Doc with view access) containing the plan (Parts 1 to 4) and the test-day evidence (Part 5), with the photos. Do not include anyone's face without their permission.

What to do, step by step

  1. Part 1. Your model and customers: which food business you are starting (buka, breakfast table, home kitchen with delivery, office lunch, snacks or small chops), where, when you will sell, who your customers are and what they can pay. Half a page.
  2. Part 2. Your menu: 3 to 6 items. For each one, a standard recipe for one batch (ingredients with quantities), the number of portions the batch gives, and the portion size you will serve (the spoon, scoop or piece count).
  3. Part 3. A costing sheet: for each item, the cost of one batch (ingredients plus a fair share of gas, packs, transport and other costs), the cost per portion, your selling price and your margin. Show your working. Use the prices in YOUR market this week and say where you checked them.
  4. Part 4. A daily food-safety and gas-safety checklist you will actually use, covering at least: handwashing, safe water, covering food, keeping hot food hot, the two-hour rule, cleaning, the gas cylinder, and what you do with leftovers.
  5. Part 5. Evidence of one real test: a test day, a sample tasting or one batch of pre-orders. Include at least three photos (your setup, your food as served, your menu or price list), what you sold or gave out, what customers said, and two things you will change.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
The model and customers are specific and realistic for the stated location15%
Menu items have standard recipes with quantities, batch yields and fixed portion sizes20%
Costing is complete and correct per portion, includes hidden costs, and the prices give a real margin25%
The food-safety and gas-safety checklist is correct, practical and covers every required point25%
The test-day evidence is real, with photos, results and honest lessons learned15%

You need 65% overall to pass. A human examiner also reviews this safety-critical project before any certificate is issued. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish Food Vendor Business: From Your First Pot to a Stall People Trust before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Food Vendor Business: From Your First Pot to a Stall People Trust is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Because this is a safety-critical trade, a human examiner also reviews every submission before a certificate is issued.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 5 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
