What you will submit

A single live Bubble app link that opens in a browser (set so it can be accessed for assessment) PLUS a short text note containing: your MVP plan (problem, users, data types, the 'later' list), a description of your database (the three+ data types and the links between them), confirmation that a record created through your form appears in the Data tab, which privacy rule you set, and your go-to-market note (price, retainer, how you'd find your first client). Include screenshots of the editor's Data tab and a key workflow if anything isn't visible from the live link alone.

What to do, step by step

  1. Choose ONE real or realistic Nigerian problem and define the smallest MVP that solves it — for example a salon/barber booking app, a community marketplace, a service-provider directory, an internal field-agent tracker, or an event-ticketing tool. Write a short plan (4-6 sentences): the one-sentence problem, the core users and what each must do, the data types you'll use, the must-have screens, and a 'later' list of features you are deliberately NOT building in version one.
  2. Build the database in Bubble's Data tab: create at least THREE data types with sensible field types (use a number field for any money in ₦), and make sure at least TWO are linked via a relationship (e.g. a Booking links to a User and a Service, or a Listing links to a Vendor). Add at least 4-5 real-looking records to each so there is data to display.
  3. Build at least THREE responsive screens that work on a phone — for example a list/browse page (a Repeating Group pulling live records from your database), a details page, and a form page. Use Column/Row layouts so it reflows on a narrow screen, and confirm it looks clean when opened on an actual phone.
  4. Wire up the key workflows so the app actually does things: at minimum a working form that creates a new record in the database (with the fields correctly set), and personalised dynamic data on at least one screen (e.g. a Repeating Group that uses 'Search for X where Customer = Current User', or a heading that greets the Current User). Add at least one condition (an 'only if') to a workflow or element.
  5. Add user accounts: a working sign-up and login flow using Bubble's built-in User actions, plus at least ONE privacy rule so a user can only see their own data (confirm it by logging in as two different test users). Bonus: add a payment button in test mode (Paystack/Flutterwave) or connect one API/plugin.
  6. Publish the app to a live link anyone can open, test the full flow on your phone (sign up → use a core feature → see a record created), and write a short go-to-market note (4-6 sentences): which Nigerian client this app is for, the one-off price in ₦ you'd charge, a monthly retainer figure, and how you'd find and pitch your first client.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
MVP scoping & plan — a clear one-problem focus with named users, a sensible data model, and a deliberate 'later' list showing ruthless scoping20%
Database — at least three data types with sensible field types and at least two correctly linked relationships, populated with realistic records20%
Responsive screens — at least three mobile-friendly pages including a Repeating Group pulling live data, looking clean on an actual phone20%
Workflows & logic — a working form that creates a record, personalised dynamic data, and at least one condition; the core feature works end to end20%
Accounts, safety & go-to-market — working sign-up/login, at least one privacy rule proven with two users, a published live link, and a realistic pricing/client-finding note20%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish No-Code App Building with Bubble before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in No-Code App Building with Bubble is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
