What you will submit
A single shared link or document containing the diagnosis (or fixture-install plan), an itemised materials-and-tools list with naira costs, and a professional client quote for one job.
What to do, step by step
- Choose a real plumbing issue you can access (a dripping tap, a running toilet, a blocked sink, a weak pump, no water in the tap) OR plan a fixture install (a new basin, kitchen sink, shower or WC). If you can't access a real one, describe a clear, realistic sample scenario in a Nigerian home.
- Diagnose the issue properly: state the likely cause(s) and the diagnostic steps you would take to confirm it, in the right order — including how you'd shut off the water and protect the area before touching anything. For an install, describe the supply, the waste-and-trap, and where the fixture mounts.
- Build an itemised materials list with realistic 2026 naira costs: every pipe, fitting, tap or fixture, valve, washer/cartridge, Teflon tape, PVC glue or sealant, and any new part needed — with quantities and prices. Then list the tools the job requires.
- Write a professional client quote that keeps three things clearly separate: materials (with a sensible markup), labour priced to the job's size and difficulty, and logistics/transport — ending in a clear naira grand total.
- Add your terms: the deposit you'd take, your workmanship warranty, and what is NOT included. Include at least one honest note about a real risk or pitfall (e.g. 'if the existing pipe is rotten, extra fittings will be needed', or 'a full soakaway needs an evacuation truck, not a snake').
- Combine the diagnosis (or install plan), the materials-and-tools list with naira costs, and the client quote into a single shareable document or link (Google Doc, PDF or clear typed text) that you could genuinely hand to a paying client.

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis or install plan: correctly identifies likely cause(s) and the right diagnostic/installation steps in sensible order, including shutting off water and protecting the area (or supply/waste/trap for an install) | 25% |
| Materials and tools list: complete and correctly chosen for the job (right pipe types, fitting sizes, valves, seals and the tools actually needed), with quantities | 25% |
| Professional quote: materials (with sensible markup), labour and logistics kept clearly separate, with a correct naira grand total, plus deposit, warranty and exclusions | 25% |
| Nigerian context and realism: realistic 2026 naira figures, real tank/pump/soakaway/NEPA considerations, and at least one honest pitfall flagged | 15% |
| Clarity and professionalism: the document is neat, well-organised and genuinely presentable to a paying client | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish Plumbing Basics before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Plumbing Basics is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
