What you will submit
A single shared link or document containing the room design, the itemised materials list with naira costs, the ordered work steps, and a professional client quote for one room.
What to do, step by step
- Choose a real room you can access or a clearly described sample one (a sitting room, bedroom or shop interior). Note its dimensions, ceiling height, the light direction, and the current state of the walls and ceiling.
- Create the design: describe and sketch the ceiling design you would deliver (flush, belt, multi-level, with or without LED/recessed lighting) and the wall finish (screed and paint), and justify why the design fits this room's size, height and budget. A hand-drawn photo or simple drawing-app sketch is fine.
- Measure and estimate: calculate the ceiling area in square metres and the wall area to screed and paint, then build an itemised materials list with realistic 2026 naira costs — POP bags, ceiling board or screed mesh, steel channel and hangers, screws, cornices, filler, primer and paint, sandpaper and sundries — including a 10–15% waste allowance.
- Write out the work steps in order — preparation, frame and ceiling installation, casting/fixing cornices, wall screeding, filling and sanding, then priming and painting — and note the key safety and clean-finishing points at each stage.
- Write a professional client quote: list materials with quantities and prices (including your markup), separate labour figures for the ceiling, screeding and painting, transport/logistics, your deposit terms, your warranty, and a clear grand total in naira.
- Combine the design, materials list, work steps and quote into a single shareable document or link (Google Doc, PDF or image set) that you could genuinely hand to a paying client.

| Professional quote: itemised materials + separate ceiling/screed/paint labour + logistics with a sensible markup, deposit terms, warranty and a correct naira grand total | 25% |
| Nigerian context and presentation: realistic 2026 naira figures, real power/drying/dust considerations, and a neat document genuinely presentable to a paying client | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish POP & Interior Finishing before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in POP & Interior Finishing is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
