What you will submit

A 400-800 word written field report describing how you helped at least three people check, start, or fix their voter registration, with people anonymised and all guidance non-partisan.

What to do, step by step

  1. 1. Choose 3-5 people around you (family, neighbours, market or work colleagues, coursemates) who have no PVC, never collected theirs, have relocated since registering, or have a lost/damaged card. Explain that you are learning civic guidance — not campaigning for anybody.
  2. 2. Sit with each person and establish their true status: registered or not, card collected or not, details correct or not. Use INEC's voter verification portal where possible, and confirm any process details on inec.gov.ng before advising them.
  3. 3. Help each person take at least one concrete step: complete an online pre-registration (if CVR is open), prepare their document checklist and locate the nearest INEC LGA office, start a transfer or replacement application, or make a specific plan to collect an uncollected card.
  4. 4. Write down every question or myth they raised (e.g. 'they will know who I voted for', 'PVC costs money') and exactly how you answered it using what this course taught.
  5. 5. Write a field report of roughly 400-800 words. Label people as Person A, B, C (no real names, phone numbers, or VINs). For each person state: their starting status, the step you took together, what remains to be done, and one thing that surprised you overall.
  6. 6. Keep the report strictly non-partisan. Any campaigning for or against a party or candidate — however mild — means the submission cannot pass.

How it is graded

Helped at least three real people, each with a clearly described starting status and specific need30%
Registration, transfer, replacement, or collection steps described accurately and consistent with the INEC process taught (with 'confirm on inec.gov.ng' caution where appropriate)30%
Questions and myths encountered are recorded and answered correctly using course facts20%
Strictly non-partisan tone, privacy respected (no real names/VINs/contacts), and honest about what remains undone20%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish PVC & Voter Registration Class before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in PVC & Voter Registration Class is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters). You can mention a public link to supporting files in the write-up. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
