What you will submit

A SaaS launch plan (doc, Google Doc or PDF) covering: the validated problem + who it's for + validation evidence; the MVP scope (core vs later) + chosen stack/tool + a simple data model; a pricing plan with naira tiers + named payment processor + how subscriptions/locking work; and a written note on the Nigerian realities (forex, infrastructure, support, trust) — PLUS a working proof: a live landing-page URL or a clickable prototype link. Submitted as one link with a one-line note on what it is and what to click.

What to do, step by step

  1. Define and VALIDATE your problem: write your one-sentence statement ('I help [who] solve [painful problem] so they can [outcome]'), confirm it passes the painful/frequent/near-money filters, and include evidence of validation — a summary of at least 3–5 real conversations with target customers (what they do now, what it costs them, what they'd pay) and/or waitlist sign-ups or pre-payments. State clearly who your ONE narrow customer is.
  2. Scope a lean MVP: list the core features that deliver the main value, list what you deliberately cut to 'later', and state your chosen path (code with a stack like a frontend + Supabase/Firebase + auth, OR a named no-code tool such as Bubble/Glide/Bolt) with a one-line reason for the choice. Include a simple data model (the 2–4 tables/collections and key columns, e.g. tenants with an owner_id isolation link).
  3. Write a pricing & payment plan: design at least two or three tiers with clear naira prices and what each tier unlocks/limits, name your payment processor (Paystack/Flutterwave for naira and/or Stripe/Paddle for dollars), explain how subscriptions will recur, and note how you'll keep paid features locked until a payment is verified (webhook, not browser).
  4. Build the PROOF: create EITHER a real landing page (a one-page site describing the product, the benefit, the pricing tiers and a call-to-action button like 'Join waitlist' or 'Start free trial' — deployed live to a URL via Vercel/Netlify/Carrd/a no-code publish link) OR a clickable prototype of the 4–6 core screens (e.g. in Figma or your no-code builder) that a stranger could click through.
  5. Address the Nigerian realities in writing: briefly state how you'll handle forex/payouts (e.g. Paystack to a Nigerian business account; Payoneer/Grey for any dollars), infrastructure (mobile-first and light), support (e.g. a WhatsApp line), and trust (domain, clear pricing, testimonials/refund) — show you've thought past just the code.
  6. Submit a single link (a doc/Google Doc/PDF containing the plan PLUS the live landing-page or prototype link) with a one-line note saying what the product is, who it's for, and what proof to click.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
Validated problem & customer — a clear one-sentence problem statement aimed at ONE narrow customer, passing the painful/frequent/near-money test, backed by real validation evidence (conversations, waitlist or pre-payments), not just an assertion that it's a good idea25%
MVP scope & stack — a ruthlessly focused core (with an explicit 'later' list), a sensibly chosen code OR named no-code path with reasoning, and a simple data model showing owner-based data isolation20%
Pricing & payments plan — at least two/three sensible naira tiers with clear limits, a named processor (Paystack/Flutterwave and/or Stripe/Paddle), recurring subscriptions explained, and paid features unlocked only via a verified payment (webhook, not browser)25%
Built proof — a genuinely working landing page (live URL) OR a clickable prototype of the core screens that a stranger could open and understand, matching the described product20%
Nigerian realities & shippability — a clear written plan for forex/payouts, infrastructure (mobile-first/light), support (e.g. WhatsApp) and trust (domain, pricing, testimonials/refund), and a submitted link that actually opens10%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish Building SaaS Products from Nigeria before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Building SaaS Products from Nigeria is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
