What you will submit
A public Google Doc linking your live channel and three published videos, with your first CTR and retention readings and a one-paragraph improvement plan.
What to do, step by step
- 1. Pick your lane using the three-circle test from Lesson 1, write your 20-idea list, and choose the three strongest ideas. Open your channel (YouTube, TikTok, or both) with a lane-relevant name, a Canva banner, and a one-line keyworded description.
- 2. Film and edit all three videos on your phone, applying the course rules: a payoff-first hook in the first 10 seconds, clean audio recorded within arm's length, at least three pieces of b-roll or visual changes per video, dead air cut out, and captions added.
- 3. Write five candidate titles per video before choosing one, and design a thumbnail in Canva (or a deliberate first frame plus on-screen text for short-form) that passes the small-screen test — one subject, three words max, high contrast.
- 4. Publish the three videos at least three days apart, on a stated schedule, and reply to every comment you receive in the first week.
- 5. Seven days after your third video goes live, open your analytics and record each video's CTR (or views for TikTok) and average view duration / retention.
- 6. Create a free public Google Doc containing: your channel link, links to the three videos, your analytics readings for each, and one paragraph on what you will change in your next three videos. Submit the Google Doc URL (set sharing to 'Anyone with the link can view').

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Three published videos, each with a clear payoff-first hook in the opening 10 seconds and clean, audible audio | 30% |
| Deliberate packaging: specific, honest titles (naira figures or concrete promises where fitting) and readable small-screen thumbnails or first frames on all three | 25% |
| Editing rhythm: dead air removed, visible pattern interrupts (b-roll, punch-ins, or on-screen text), and captions present | 20% |
| Analytics reflection: CTR and retention/view-duration reported per video with a concrete, specific improvement plan | 15% |
| Channel setup: consistent lane-relevant handle, banner, keyworded description, and a stated publishing schedule | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish Vlogging: Start a Video Channel before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Vlogging: Start a Video Channel is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
