What you will submit

One public, viewable link to your demo reel (2-3 clean samples in different styles) plus a rate card and a short bio, all on one shareable page.

What to do, step by step

  1. Record 2-3 short voiceover samples in clearly different styles — for example a punchy 20-30 second advert, a friendly explainer, and a calm narration or professional IVR greeting — using free or written practice scripts.
  2. Apply the full course craft to each sample: a quiet, echo-free setup; a warmed-up voice; delivery (tone, pace, emphasis) matched to each style; and clean editing in Audacity (or another free tool) with noise removed and even volume.
  3. Either present the samples as separate clean clips or stitch them into one 60-90 second demo reel with your strongest clip first, exported in good quality (WAV or 320kbps MP3).
  4. Write a simple rate card listing your services and prices in both naira and dollars (e.g. a 30-second advert, an explainer per 100 words, narration per finished hour), including at least one add-on such as commercial usage or rush delivery.
  5. Put your demo audio and rate card together with a short paragraph about your voice and your contact (WhatsApp/email) on one public, shareable link — for example a SoundCloud/Google Drive audio link inside a Carrd page or Google Doc.
  6. Test the link opens and plays on a device that isn't yours, then submit the single public link.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
Audio quality: samples are clean, clear and professionally edited — no echo, background noise, hiss, harsh pops or uneven volume30%
Delivery and range: 2-3 samples in genuinely different styles, each with appropriate tone, pace, emphasis and energy for that script type30%
Rate card: clear, confident, professionally structured pricing in naira and dollars, including at least one add-on15%
Presentation: demo, rate card and short bio assembled on one clean, public, working link that opens and plays for others15%
Reel structure: appropriate length (around 60-90 seconds total), strongest clip leading, samples clearly distinct10%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish Voiceover & Audio Storytelling before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Voiceover & Audio Storytelling is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
