What you will submit
One document (Google Doc with view access, or an uploaded Word or PDF file) with a headed section for each of the six parts, including the site link or screenshots. No real customer data; test orders only.
What to do, step by step
- Build a store for a fictional Nigerian business (or a real one with the owner's written permission) on a local install, a free test host or a real host. Use only free or properly licensed themes and plugins, never nulled ones, and keep the payment gateway in test mode unless the business owner is running it live with their own account.
- Part 1. The site: a homepage, an about page, a contact page with a working form and a WhatsApp button, and a shop page, built with a block theme. Share the live or staging link, or screenshots of every page on desktop and phone if it is a local install.
- Part 2. The store: at least ten products in at least three categories, including one variable product with options (for example sizes) and correct naira prices and stock levels. Include screenshots of the product list in the dashboard.
- Part 3. Checkout: Paystack or Flutterwave configured in test mode with a screenshot of a completed test order and its order status, plus a written note of how bank transfer and pay on delivery would be handled and their risks.
- Part 4. Shipping and policies: at least three shipping zones with rates, and privacy, refund and delivery policy pages written for the business in plain language.
- Part 5. Speed, security and backup: a before-and-after speed test (tool and scores), a list of the security steps taken (updates, admin account, two-factor, login limits, security plugin), and evidence of a backup stored off the site and a restore test.
- Part 6. Handover pack: a one-page client manual (how to add a product, process an order, and update prices), a list of every login the client must own, and your proposed maintenance plan with a price.

| Shipping zones are sensible and the policy pages are clear and appropriate | 14% |
| Speed, security and backup work is evidenced, including a restore test | 18% |
| The handover pack lets a client run the store and owns all logins | 16% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish WordPress & WooCommerce: Build Websites and Online Stores for Nigerian Businesses before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in WordPress & WooCommerce: Build Websites and Online Stores for Nigerian Businesses is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 7 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
