Comedy skits in Nigeria are a real industry, not just jokes online. Today you'll see exactly how money flows to skit makers — so you build an audience like a business from your very first clip.

Who this course is for

For the funny person in every family, office and church who has been told to 'do something with it': aspiring skit makers, actors, content creators and anyone who wants to understand why some skits get millions of views and others die. Only a phone is required.

What you'll learn

By the end you will be able to

Pay, demand and the market in Nigeria

Nigeria's skit economy is one of the largest in Africa: the top skit makers earn hundreds of millions of naira a year from brand integrations, and the tier below — creators with 50,000 to 500,000 followers — charge ₦100,000 to ₦2 million per branded skit in 2026, plus appearance fees, platform payouts and product sales. Fintechs, telcos, betting companies, beverage brands and government campaigns all buy skits. Even small creators earn from local business promotions and from writing for bigger channels, which is an under-noticed job in itself.

Tools and what it costs to start

A phone, natural light, a quiet space, CapCut (free), and one or two friends willing to act. A ₦5,000 to ₦15,000 tripod and a ₦8,000 to ₦20,000 clip-on mic are the first worthwhile upgrades. Costumes are whatever is in the wardrobe.
