What you will submit

A single shared document link (Google Doc/Drive/Notion, set to 'anyone with the link can view') containing: the goal/audience, the final script and shot list, a working link to ONE finished AI video short (AI voice + AI visuals + proofread captions, exported 1080p MP4), a 150-250 word tools-and-prompts note, a statement on copyright-safe music and AI disclosure, and a 2-3 sentence real business use with a realistic naira price.

What to do, step by step

  1. Pick a real, specific purpose and audience for ONE short video (about 20-60 seconds) — for example an advert for a real or imagined small Nigerian business, a faceless explainer ('how to open a Cowrywise account'), or a 'top 5 tips' clip for a niche. In your document, state the goal, the audience, and the one action you want the viewer to take.
  2. Write a tight script using the hook-value-call-to-action structure (Lesson 2) and turn it into a short shot list noting what the viewer sees on each line. You may use free AI (ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini) to draft it, then edit it to be natural, truthful and yours. Paste the final script and shot list into your document.
  3. Produce the video using AI for at least the voice AND the visuals: generate an AI voiceover or text-to-speech for the narration (listen to it fully and fix any mangled Nigerian names/numbers), and create the visuals using AI b-roll (Runway/Pika), an AI avatar (HeyGen/Synthesia), AI image-to-video, or a clear mix of these with free stock — not just plain static text slides.
  4. Assemble and finish it in CapCut (or similar): add accurate, proofread auto-captions styled for silent viewing and kept inside the safe zone, use only copyright-safe or in-app-licensed music ducked under the voice, export as 1080p MP4 in the correct aspect ratio, and preview it on an actual phone before sharing.
  5. Write a tools-and-prompts note (about 150-250 words) listing exactly which AI tools you used for what (voice, visuals, captions, editing), the key prompts you used (so someone could roughly reproduce a shot), whether your music was copyright-safe and how, and whether/where you would add an AI-disclosure label.
  6. Add one clear business use: state in 2-3 sentences who would pay for this video or how it would earn (a specific client/business, a faceless channel, a service package) and a realistic naira price or value. Put the video link, the script/shot list, the tools-and-prompts note and the business use in ONE shared document set to 'anyone with the link can view', and submit that document's link.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
A finished, watchable AI video short (~20-60s) that uses AI for BOTH the voice and the visuals, with a clear hook, a coherent message, and a call to action — assembled and exported properly (1080p MP4, correct aspect ratio)35%
Accurate, proofread captions styled for silent viewing and kept inside the safe zone, with only copyright-safe or in-app-licensed music ducked under the voice20%
A clear tools-and-prompts note naming exactly which AI tools did what and the key prompts used, so the process is transparent and roughly reproducible20%
Honest, legal practice — no deepfakes or non-consensual voice cloning, a sensible AI-disclosure decision, and correct handling of copyright/commercial-use terms15%
A realistic, specific business use — who would pay or how it earns, with a sensible naira price or value, grounded in Nigerian reality10%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish AI Video Creation & Editing before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in AI Video Creation & Editing is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
