What you will submit
A written pack of roughly 1,400 to 2,200 words containing: the engagement objective and client-side cast; the full statement of work with concrete exclusions, verifiable acceptance criteria, the two-track timeline, payment structure and assumptions; the bottom-up estimate with visible friction allowance, internal range and external commitment; the fee with floor and anchor computed, the model defended against an alternative, the client-facing price sentence and the discount trade; the five-row risk register with observable indicators; the worked change note with options, the 'surely included' reply, and a three-entry change log; and the landing plan with the ADKAR diagnosis, acceptance walk-through, handover contents and self-review questions.
What to do, step by step
- Choose ONE real engagement you could genuinely deliver — for a real business you have access to, your employer, or the recommendation developed in an earlier course of this sequence (say which). State the engagement's objective in one sentence tied to the decision it serves, and name the client-side cast: sponsor, coordinator, and the named owner of each key input. Use roles or initials for privacy.
- Write the statement of work in full, compactly (600–900 words): the objective; scope IN as a concrete list; scope EXPLICITLY OUT as at least four concrete exclusions a reasonable person might have assumed included; each deliverable with acceptance criteria a stranger could verify, including the one-consolidated-revision-round clause with a named consolidator and window; the two-track timeline with at least three client obligations carrying names and dates, plus the day-for-day clause; the payment structure (mobilisation percentage, milestone-tied payments, and the pause threshold in days); at least four assumptions the price depends on; and the change protocol paragraph.
- Build the estimate bottom-up and show it: at least ten tasks of no more than three days each, summed; a named friction allowance with its percentage and your reasoning for that level on THIS client; explicit lines for review, revision, writing/presenting, and the weekly management half-days; and the internal range (low to high) with one sentence on what drives the width. State which number you would commit to externally and why.
- Set the fee and defend it: compute your floor (your required day rate — show how you derived it from your honest billable-day count — times the estimate) and name the client's anchor (what the problem costs them, or the alternative they would pay). Choose a pricing model for THIS engagement, justify it against at least one rejected alternative, and present the fee in one client-facing sentence tied to the outcome rather than the effort. Then show one discount scenario: the client pushes back 20% — write the trade you would offer instead of a bare cut.
- Write the live risk register: exactly five rows, each with the risk, the early indicator you would watch (specific enough to be observable — a postponed call, an ageing request, a response-time change), the mitigation you would buy in week one, and the trigger response as options-with-consequences language. At least two rows must be engagement-internal risks (sponsor, data, attention, resistance, you) and at least one an infrastructure risk with its continuity answer.
- Demonstrate the change protocol on a realistic ask: invent the most plausible out-of-scope request THIS client would make in week three, and write the actual change note you would send — the ask restated, days, fee, timeline impact, and the four options (add, swap, defer, decline) — plus the two-sentence reply you would send if the sponsor says 'surely this is included'. Then show your change log with at least three entries of different outcomes, including one deliberately absorbed ask and how you made it a visible gift.
- Close the pack with the landing plan: the ADKAR diagnosis for the one person most affected by the engagement's likely recommendation — which letter is weakest and what you would do about it, including whether adoption work is in the SOW or handed over with the gap named; the acceptance walk-through you would run at the close-out meeting (which criteria, confirmed how); the handover pack's contents and its named recipient; and the four-question self-review you would file the same week, with the 90-day check-in indicator named.

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| The SOW would actually settle disputes: at least four concrete exclusions, acceptance criteria a stranger could verify with the consolidated-revision clause, a two-track timeline naming at least three client obligations with the day-for-day clause, milestone-tied payments with mobilisation and a pause threshold, and at least four priced assumptions | 25% |
| The estimate is honest underwriting: ten-plus tasks of three days or fewer summed bottom-up, a friction allowance with client-specific reasoning, explicit review/revision/writing/management lines, an internal range with its width explained, and a defended external commitment | 20% |
| The fee is anchored, not guessed: the floor derived from an honest billable-day count, a named client anchor, the pricing model justified against a rejected alternative, the price presented against the outcome, and a discount handled as a trade rather than a bare cut | 15% |
| The risk register is live, not decorative: five rows with observable early indicators, week-one mitigations, trigger responses phrased as options with consequences, at least two engagement-internal risks and one infrastructure risk with a continuity answer | 15% |
| The change machinery works on a real ask: a plausible week-three request, the complete change note with days, fee, timeline and four options, a graceful reply to 'surely this is included', and a change log showing three different outcomes including one absorbed ask made visible | 15% |
| The landing is designed: an ADKAR diagnosis naming the weakest letter for a specific person with a response, adoption work either scoped or handed over with the gap named, an acceptance walk-through tied to the SOW's criteria, a handover pack with a named recipient, and the self-review plus 90-day indicator | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish Consulting Engagement Delivery before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Consulting Engagement Delivery is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters). You can mention a public link to supporting files in the write-up. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 7 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
