What you will submit
A single Figma share link (set so it can be viewed/prototyped for assessment) showing at least four connected screens, a named styles + components page, and a working clickable prototype. Include a short text note covering: the product and target user, the components and auto-layout you used, your colour/type choices, and your pricing + client-finding plan. If your prototype link differs from the file link, include both.
What to do, step by step
- Choose ONE realistic product to design for a Nigerian audience — for example a fintech app (wallet/transfers), an e-commerce or food-delivery app, a logistics tracker, or a service-booking website. Write one or two sentences naming the product and who it's for, then design at least FOUR connected screens (e.g. login/onboarding, a dashboard or home, a list/detail screen, and a success or profile screen).
- Set up a small design system on its own page: define at least one colour style (your ₦ brand primary plus neutrals) and at least two text styles (e.g. Heading and Body), and name everything with slashes (e.g. 'Color/Primary', 'Text/Heading').
- Build and reuse at least THREE components — for example a Button (with at least two variants/states such as Normal and Disabled), an Input field, a Card, a bottom nav bar or a status pill — and use INSTANCES of them across your screens rather than redrawing. Use auto-layout on at least one list or stacked section so it spaces evenly.
- Use real, believable Nigerian content throughout — real-style names, naira (₦) amounts and sensible transactions or items — and NEVER 'Lorem ipsum' or '$' placeholder money. Keep your spacing on an 8-point feel and apply your styles consistently.
- Wire a clickable PROTOTYPE that connects your screens into at least one complete user journey (e.g. log in → dashboard → tap an item → see details/success), using sensible triggers and animations, including at least one overlay or 'back' action.
- Share the Figma file as a link set to 'anyone with the link can view', confirm the prototype runs in Present mode, and write a short note (4-6 sentences): the product and user, the screens and components you built, your design choices (colour/type), and the local price in ₦ plus how you'd find your first client for this kind of work.
Files to work with

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Screens & visual quality — at least four believable, well-structured screens with clean colour, type hierarchy and consistent 8-point spacing | 25% |
| Components & reuse — at least three components (with at least one set of variants) used as instances across screens, named with slashes | 20% |
| Auto-layout & responsiveness — auto-layout used on at least one list/section so it spaces and reflows cleanly; sensible mobile-first layout | 20% |
| Prototype — a working clickable journey connecting the screens with sensible triggers/animations and at least one overlay or back action | 20% |
| Nigerian content & go-to-market — real ₦ amounts and local content (no Lorem ipsum), plus a clear, realistic pricing and client-finding note | 15% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish Figma for Product Design before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Figma for Product Design is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
