What you will submit

A single shareable link (Google Doc/Drive) to a complete remote-job application kit containing five clearly labelled parts: (1) a tailored remote-ready ATS-friendly CV, (2) a LinkedIn rewrite (headline, About, Experience, Skills), (3) an application tracker of 10 real remote roles applied to, (4) interview prep notes with company research, 3+ STAR answers and a USD/naira salary range, and (5) a short getting-paid note naming Payoneer/Grey and one scam red flag.

What to do, step by step

  1. Create one shareable Google Doc (or Drive folder) titled clearly as your remote-job kit, with sections for: Target Roles, CV, LinkedIn, Application Tracker, and Interview Prep. Set sharing to 'anyone with the link can view' so it can be reviewed.
  2. Produce a tailored, remote-ready, ATS-friendly CV (Lesson 3): a clean single-column layout, contact details with your phone in international format, a 2–3 line professional summary that explicitly targets remote work, and experience written as achievement bullets (verb + action + result with real numbers). Mirror real keywords from your target adverts and include nothing you did not actually do.
  3. Rewrite your LinkedIn for remote work (Lesson 4): paste into the doc a keyword-rich, remote-signalling headline, a warm first-person About section, and at least your most recent Experience entry with quantified bullets plus a relevant Skills list (a link to your live profile is a bonus).
  4. Build an application tracker (a table or sheet) listing 10 REAL remote roles you have actually applied to — found on LinkedIn, RemoteOK, We Work Remotely, Remotive, Wellfound or an Africa-focused board. For each, record: company, role, platform/source, date applied, the channel (cold apply / referral / recruiter), and current status. These must be genuine current openings, not invented.
  5. Write interview prep notes (Lessons 5–6): brief research on 2 of the companies you applied to, 3 smart questions you'd ask an interviewer, at least 3 STAR-format answers to likely behavioural and remote-readiness questions (including how you handle unreliable power/internet), and a researched salary range in USD (with the naira equivalent) plus how you'd answer the expectation question.
  6. Add a short 'Getting Paid' note (Lesson 7) stating how you would receive payment into Nigeria (e.g. Payoneer or Grey) and one scam red flag you will always refuse. Then review the whole kit so everything is truthful, Nigerian-real (naira and USD, real platforms, scam-aware) and aimed at genuine remote roles, and submit the link.

How it is graded

CriterionWeight
Remote-ready, ATS-friendly CV — clean single-column layout, a remote-targeted summary, achievement bullets with real numbers, and real advert keywords mirrored truthfully (nothing fabricated)25%
LinkedIn rewrite — a keyword-rich, remote-signalling headline, a warm first-person About, and a recent Experience entry with quantified bullets and a relevant skills list20%
Application tracker — 10 genuine current remote roles applied to via the right platforms, each with company, role, source, date, channel and status25%
Interview prep — company research, smart questions to ask, 3+ STAR answers (including a remote-readiness/power-internet answer), and a researched USD + naira salary range20%
Getting paid & realism — a clear Payoneer/Grey getting-paid note and one scam red flag, with the whole kit truthful and Nigerian-real (naira, USD, real platforms)10%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish How to Get Your First Remote Job before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in How to Get Your First Remote Job is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
