What you will submit

One link (Google Drive, YouTube unlisted, Vimeo or Behance, view access) to a folder or page containing the four pieces, the showreel, the storyboards and scripts, the export specification table and the list of licensed sources.

What to do, step by step

  1. Create original motion work for a fictional or real client (with permission). Use only music, sound effects, fonts and footage you are licensed to use (a platform's licensed library, a free licence, or your own), and list every source. No cracked software, plugins or fonts. Avoid rapid flashing.
  2. Part 1. An animated social post (5 to 15 seconds, 9:16 or 4:5) for a brand, with a short storyboard of at least four frames and a note on the easing you used and why.
  3. Part 2. A kinetic typography piece (10 to 30 seconds) set to a licensed voiceover, verse or music clip, with every line held long enough to read on a phone.
  4. Part 3. A logo sting (2 to 5 seconds) for a logo you designed or have permission to animate, with one version with sound and one silent loop.
  5. Part 4. An explainer segment (20 to 45 seconds) with a short script, a scene table and animated UI or icons.
  6. Part 5. Export specifications: for each piece, the platform or venue, aspect ratio, resolution, frame rate, format and file size, and one sentence on how you checked it plays properly on a phone.
  7. Part 6. A 30 to 60 second showreel that cuts the best moments from all four pieces, and a one-paragraph note on what you would charge for each piece as a client job, with your reasoning.

The logo sting is short, on-brand and works with and without sound16%
The explainer segment has a clear structure from script to scenes18%
Export specifications are correct for each destination and sources are licensed and listed16%

You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.

Before you submit: make your link public

If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish Motion Graphics for Social Media and Brands before submitting the project?

Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in Motion Graphics for Social Media and Brands is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.

How is the project graded?

An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.

Can I resubmit if I fail?

Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.

What do I actually submit?

A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 7 steps.

Is the certificate real?

Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
