What you will submit
A single shareable link (Google Doc/Sheet) to a mini HR pack containing four clearly labelled parts for one sample Nigerian company: (1) a job advert, (2) a screening checklist, (3) an onboarding checklist, and (4) an employee record template.
What to do, step by step
- Invent a small, realistic Nigerian company (e.g. a 15-person logistics startup in Lagos, a school in Abuja, or a fashion brand in Aba) and give it a name, location and the one role it's hiring for. Write one full job advert for that role following Lesson 2: clear title with location, warm company lines, a 'What you'll do' list, a 'What we're looking for' list with a stated salary range in naira, and exact instructions on how and by when to apply (including a required email subject line).
- Create a screening checklist for that role (from Lesson 3): list the must-have criteria drawn from your advert, set them up so each CV can be scored Yes/Maybe/No against the SAME criteria for everyone, and add 3–4 questions you'd ask in a 10-minute phone screen (e.g. availability, salary expectation, notice period).
- Build an onboarding checklist for a new hire (from Lesson 4) covering pre-boarding (documents to collect, signed offer/contract, tools/access/email setup), day one and week one (welcome, orientation, handbook walkthrough, first-week plan), the statutory enrolments (pension RSA, NSITF, HMO, correct PAYE), and 30/60/90-day check-ins.
- Design an employee record template as a Google Sheet or Doc (from Lesson 5): the fields a personnel file should capture — staff ID, name, role, department, start date, NIN, BVN, bank details, pension RSA PIN, next-of-kin, leave entitlement/taken/remaining, and status — organised clearly, with a short note on how confidentiality and access control would be handled under the NDPA.
- Put all four items into one shareable document or Sheet (use clear headings/tabs for: Job Advert, Screening Checklist, Onboarding Checklist, Employee Record Template). Set sharing so the link is viewable, and make sure the work reflects real Nigerian context — naira figures, real institutions (pension PFA, NSITF, CIPM), and fair, lawful practice.
- Submit the link to your completed HR pack.

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Job advert — a clear, specific advert for a defined role with location, honest duties and requirements, a stated naira salary range, and exact how-to-apply instructions (including a required subject line) | 25% |
| Screening checklist — usable must-have criteria drawn from the advert, set up for consistent Yes/Maybe/No scoring across all candidates, plus sensible phone-screen questions | 20% |
| Onboarding checklist — covers pre-boarding, day one/week one, the Nigerian statutory enrolments (pension, NSITF, HMO, PAYE) and 30/60/90-day follow-up | 25% |
| Employee record template — captures the right personnel-file fields (including NIN, bank, pension RSA PIN, next-of-kin, leave balances) in an organised, usable layout | 20% |
| Confidentiality, professionalism & Nigerian realism — handles employee data with NDPA-aware access control, and the whole pack reflects real Nigerian institutions, naira figures and fair, lawful practice | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish HR Assistant Training before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in HR Assistant Training is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 6 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
