What to do, step by step
- Choose one real business: your own, a family business, an employer or a client. If you have none, choose a real local business you know well and say so. Never include anyone's real personal data (customer names, phone numbers, account details) in what you submit.
- Part 1. Offer and audience brief (one page): what is sold, to whom, the one problem it solves, the price or price range, the proof you have, and the single result the campaign must achieve (for example 40 WhatsApp conversations in two weeks). Show the ChatGPT prompts you used and what you changed in the answers.
- Part 2. Ad copy pack: three ads for Meta (primary text, headline, call to action), two Google responsive search ad asset sets (headlines and descriptions), and two TikTok hooks and scripts, all written with ChatGPT and then edited by you. Mark one weak first draft and the improved version.
- Part 3. Two ad images made with an AI image tool, each with the prompt used, a note of which platform label you would switch on, and a check that no real person's face, no foreign model and no banned claim appears.
- Part 4. WhatsApp reply script for the first three messages a lead sends, written in the business's voice, with the questions that qualify a lead and the next step.
- Part 5. Campaign plan: platform choice and why, objective, audience, placements, daily budget and how it was chosen, schedule, what will be tested first, and the success number from Part 1.
- Part 6. Compliance checklist: ARCON vetting status and plan, NAFDAC or other sector approvals if they apply, the platform policy categories that apply (health, finance, betting, personal attributes, political) and how each is handled, and the AI-label settings used.
- Part 7. Results-review sheet: a table with the metrics you will record weekly, the formulas for cost per result and ROAS, and the three decisions you will make from the numbers (scale, change, stop). If the campaign has run, fill in real figures.
- Put everything in one Google Doc, set sharing to 'anyone with the link can view', and submit the link.

| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| The brief names a real offer, audience, proof and one measurable result, and shows real prompting and editing rather than pasted AI output | 25% |
| The ad copy fits each platform's format, sounds like the business and its customers, and the improved version is clearly better than the first draft | 25% |
| The images, labels, checks and compliance checklist show the ARCON, sector and platform rules were understood and applied | 20% |
| The campaign plan's budget, objective, audience and test choices are justified, and the WhatsApp script qualifies leads and moves them to a next step | 20% |
| The results-review sheet uses the right metrics and formulas and sets clear scale/change/stop decisions | 10% |
You need 65% overall to pass. A failed submission comes back with feedback and can be revised and resubmitted.
Before you submit: make your link public
If your work lives in Google Drive or Google Docs, open Share → General access and change “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link” (Viewer). Then paste the link into a private browser window: if it opens without sign-in, you are ready. A private link cannot be graded — it is the single most common reason a good project fails.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to finish ChatGPT Ads: Plan, Write and Run Ads with AI before submitting the project?
Yes. The submission screen opens once every lesson in ChatGPT Ads: Plan, Write and Run Ads with AI is marked complete. The lessons are where the methods, the Nigerian context and the worked examples the project depends on are taught.
How is the project graded?
An examiner scores each rubric criterion from 0 to 100 and weights them as shown on this page; you need 65% overall to pass. Most submissions are graded within minutes and you get written feedback on what was strong and what to improve.
Can I resubmit if I fail?
Yes. A failed project comes back with feedback; revise the weak parts and resubmit. A passed project is final — the certificate is issued and cannot be re-rolled.
What do I actually submit?
A write-up of what you did (under 5,000 characters) plus a public link to your work — a Google Drive folder, Google Doc, spreadsheet, GitHub repository or video. The link must open without sign-in; a private link cannot be graded. The free project workbook on this page walks you through all 9 steps.
Is the certificate real?
Yes. Passing this project issues a certificate with a unique verification code. Anyone — an employer, a client, a school — can open the verification page and see that the certificate is genuine and which project earned it.
